Flux 2010 Judges:

LESLIE JENSEN-INMAN
Leslie Jensen-Inman, assistant professor at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, acts on her passion to improve web education through initiatives such as Teach the Web, the Open Web Education Alliance, the WE Rock Summit and Tour, and InterACT. She is an author, speaker, and creative director who has a unique background in design and business that includes being the graphic designer for a major motion picture and owning a design, marketing, and public relations business. She has recently co-authored and creative directed the book InterACT with Web Standards: A holistic approach to web standards.

SETH JOHNSON
Seth Johnson is a designer, strategist, educator, and principal of Seth Johnson Design, a Minneapolis-based consultancy working with clients in a wide range of business categories to conceive and implement branding and communications solutions. A talented communicator and strategist, Seth excels at figuring out what his clients need to say, how they need to say it, and who they need to say it to.

Like most Wisconsin natives, he is a connoisseur of beer and cheese, but he's also adept at identifying typefaces in film titles—much to the annoyance of those seated nearby. Seth holds a BA in Theater Arts from the University of Minnesota so he is comfortable around brooding, narcissistic smokers. He has taught design for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system and the Design Institute at Westwood College in Los Angeles.

Seth is president of the Minnesota chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design. He also serves as an advisory board member for Art Buddies and is one of the founders of FEAST MPLS. He lives in south Minneapolis.

ELLEN LUPTON
Ellen Lupton is curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution in New York City and director of the Graphic Design MFA program at MICA in Baltimore. Her most recent book is Design Your Life: The Pleasures and Perils of Everyday Things, co-authored with Julia Lupton. Her exhibitions include the National Design Triennial series and Skin: Surface, Substance + Design. Her book Thinking with Type (2004) is a basic guide to typography directed at everyone who works with words. She has produced a series of publications with her graduate students at MICA, including D.I.Y.: Design It Yourself (2006), Indie Publishing (2008), and Graphic Design: The New Basics (2008). Ellen has contributed to various design magazines, including Print, Eye, I.D., and Metropolis. She is a 2007 recipient of the AIGA Gold Medal. A frequent lecturer around the U.S. and the world, Lupton will speak about design to anyone who will listen.
